sassyqarla: Perez Hilton says Miss California 2009 is a dumb B- -!

  • DeeAnn Moyes · 7 months ago
Where is freedom of Speech? Miss California has the RIGHT to believe how she CHOOSES concerning gay marriage. The most important thing here is the right to freedom of speech, not what someone wants to do with their love life.
  • Alle Mande · 7 months ago
I too think she should have the right to answer a direct question with an honest answer. The problem is, this perez NAZI thinks nobody should have an opinion except him!!!!! He is the bitch, let me tell you.... I think Carrie should sue the s**t out of him for violating her consitutional right to free speech.
  • Carol · 7 months ago
I totally agree - she should sue him. How immature, disrespectful and rude can someone be! The Miss USA Pagent sure has gone to the dogs for letting someone like Perez Hilton be a judge. That should not even have been a question - haven't they ever heard that in mixed company you should not talk about religion or politics or someone will get hurt. Miss California said that because of her upbringing she feels that marriage should only be between a man and a woman. This is a very personal issue and should not not have been part of a beauty pagent!
  • V01 · 7 months ago
By sueing him don't you violate his right to free speach? After all aren't we allowed to ask questions anymore? What a twisted view of the Constitiution you guys have. While i disgree with Hiltonm he still gets to have his say.
  • Katie · 7 months ago
yeah, wow you should get an award for being so with it! You are what is so freakin wrong with this country, The first thing I would do Is sue?? This is so juvenile and so GD conservative of you to say , I am so sick of people like you that don't even know what they are talking about!
Karroll, If you think / say " the Miss USA pagent sure has gone to the dogs for letting someone like Perez Hilton be a judge " What does that say about the selected contestants HMm? they are suppose to be representing an entire Country, the melting pot if you will which also includes many cultural, religious, lifestyle Choices. Not a very smart answer from such a stupid clone of a stupid clone. It was in plain sight what she was doing, or what she was told to say, she was totally coached. Do you honestly think that question was not covered in a hypothetical question you should be ready for? That is one of the top issues in this country, and to answer it like a freakin child, and you support legal action against someone who voices his opinion, just like she did? then he can sue her and back and forth it goes! Yeah, thats the way to be
  • Len · 7 months ago
If Perez was on stage, would he lie about his feelings about gay marriage. NO, he would not. He would say what he believes in. WELL, isn't that excatly what Miss California did? We as Americans have the right to say and VOTE on how we believe. And no one has that right to correct or change it.
  • Sally · 7 months ago
How is it that being "real" is being put down? Is Mr/Ms/It Hilton suggesting that contestants lie? And if indeed this is a beauty queen competition, then why is it that he blasts her based on her moral beliefs?? Perhaps they shouldn't ask questions regarding MORAL beliefs if they don't want MORAL answers. 99% of the viewers are calling Carrie - The Real Winner! Its about time.
  • laura · 7 months ago
Way to go Miss California!!! It's about time someone in the limelight stood up for what is right and what they believe!!! I'm so tired of the minority on every issue dictating what we can and cannot say or do, because we might offend someone. Did it ever occur to Hilton that while he might have been "offended" by her answer, the majority of us are offended by having the whole gay agenda shoved down our throats? I think this needs to be the beginning of something big. No more political correctness. I'm not suggesting "hate" talk, but I think we need to not be afraid to say what we believe.
  • Katie · 7 months ago
Hey where have you been? have you not heard of civil rights? and everybody being equal in this country? Its halfway through 2009 which means in lamens terms its almost 2010, do you
Understand! Who made you god? and how are so enlightened What is wrong and what is right?
I think Your Wrong, in fact , I know your wrong! Somewhere in your life you decided to join a belief system because it was easier for you , right, ? Well so this belief system that you believe in also created everyone and everything ? right? so then also created differences too right? so why is that?
do you think the creator wanted this minority to be hated and treated differently? or rather a test of a person who was true, when they went to church everysunday saying everyone is equal except these people. which is it? are you being tested? are they not created by your same creator? hmm. what will you hate next?
  • M3 · 7 months ago
People are allowed to have their own opinion on this matter, Katie. Laura is not claiming to be any kind of authority in the matter, nor is she imposing her own beliefs onto others -- if anything, she's being supportive of Ms. California's actions and voice -- and for that I applause her. Like everyone else, you too can have your stance, whatever that may be. It isn't your place to question anyone on how they base their decisions.
  • Katie · 7 months ago
Yes but she clearly says, she stood up for what is right . How is that right? WHo is she to say that ? yes everyone is allowed to have an opinion. but when you are in a position to represent a whole other thing besides yourself, this whole other thing includes people different from you, and why would someone run for Miss USA that is not excepting of ALL
Americans ? whats the motive here. to win something and pretend to be someone your not apparently! My beef here is that Laura is claiming to be some kind of authority in the matter by saying Ms. California is right for not supporting gay marriage! You are applauding the wrong people!

  • Mike Modlin · 7 months ago
Doesn't the Bible say that we should not judge others, lest we be judged ourselves? Why then, are SO many supposed "Christians" SO concerned with what OTHER people do with their lives? Who made them in charge of what marriage means, and doesn't God love all his children (not just the conservative, judgmental, gun-toting crowd)? If so, then I think everyone needs to mind their own damned business and let people love whomever they choose to. This is coming from a heterosexual male who lives in the "Bible Belt", BTW.
  • Michael Roberts · 7 months ago
Where was the "judgement" in her comments? Is stating a belief now a crime? You have your belief, she has hers.
But, you start a rant when ANYONE even DARES to think differently than you. Who's the Nazi now?

You demand your right to speak out while denying her rights? The fact is, it was the conviction that certain right are unalienable because they come from God that got us the Bill of Rights. Freedom works both ways, bud. If someone doesn't have it, then soon, no one will have it.

And just for fun, when did non-believers in Scripture begin to be the authorities on what it says?
I am tired of people who deny the Scriptures telling me how to read it. But, because we ARE believers, we accept your freedom to disagree all you want.
People like you killed us before, are killing us all over the world, and will do so in the future. But the only judgment that matters is coming, and we both will stand before the Judge and He will make the decision for us both.

Disagree all you want, but be civil and recognize that you are not the sole arbiter of truth.

I agree with DeeAnn... we ALL have a right to believe how we choose. Perez, if you had not wanted her to answer honestly, you shouldn't have asked her that question. Furthermore, I agree whole-heartedly with Miss California, I was raised to believe, and I CHOOSE TO BELIEVE that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Anything else is an abomination!
  • Randy · 7 months ago
I applaud Miss California for having the courage to say what she believes. Gay people would like everyone who doe not see it their way to be silent. This country is founded on the right of free speech and if people can not say what they think, it is not America anymore. Miss California lost this judge P Hilton's vote because of her answer. He should not have been judge anyway, he does not judge fairly! Next year, maybe the Miss USA people will do a better job of selecting judges.
  • Judy · 7 months ago
How sick. In his mind he has a right to force his views on other people yet she has no right to give an honest answer to a hidden agenda question. Just to listen to her talk is refreshing and to listen to him talk makes you think what a sick filthy mouth creep, regardless of what the subject was.

  • allen · 7 months ago
My daughters showed told me about what happened and then we watched Miss C's wonderful answer to a loaded question. Then I watched that scumbag's paris hilton's response to her answer on his blog and I almmost thre up my dinner.

I not only hold hilton responsable but I hold Trump responsable for not previewing the questins and for having hilton as a judge. Let's get a serial killer to be a judge next year and ask if it is ok to murder somebody. I think trump is a scum too and really always have.
  • Lori · 7 months ago
If her carefully, well spoken response needed more compassion (according to the California pageant director) then surely Mr. Hilton's response needs more of the same and probably more. Calling her names says much more about him than her. He needs to remember that calling her the B word isn't compassionate, but degrades all women.
  • Randy · 7 months ago
P Hilton does not know what beauty is. He has no business being a judge for a beauty contest!
  • JessLayne22 · 7 months ago
She was asked a very controversial question and she gave her honest answer. Either way she would have answered that question she would have been criticized. Just because Perez didn't get the answer he wanted doesn't mean he should bad mouth her. He needs to learn to not ask questions he doesn't want the answer to. If people don't share your views you shouldn't attack them. I happen to agree with Miss California...I think marriage is betweeen a man and a woman because that is how I was raised. I respect her for having the guts to stand up in front of millions of people and express that...it would have been alot easier to say she thought it was okay (considering who asked the question) This is America and as Americans we all have the right to freedom of speech...people should not be attacked for expressing that right.
  • Nancy · 7 months ago
I say, WAY TO GO MISS CALIFORNIA!!! Either way your opinion falls on this issue, we all have the right to speak our minds honestly. Perez, don't ask honest questions that you don't want an honest answer to. Supporting or not supporting gay marriage is neither progressive nor repressive and having a solid, educated opinion on an issue is far better than following blindly. Good for you miss Cali!
  • Roni · 7 months ago
I agree with everyone here. He shouldn't have asked a question like that if he wasn't going to want her honest answer. Did he expect her to say she was for gay marriage just because he was a judge? I applaud her for being honest and not worrying about her response affecting her score because it shouldn't have. Just because some states legalized gay marriage doesn't mean everyone needs to jump on the bandwagon and be all for it. I was also raised and still believe that marriage is something soley for man and woman. Anything other than that is wrong.
  • Sam Ausa · 7 months ago
Miss California you are my miss Universe 2009/2010 hold on to your principles as for Perez you are not worth discussing !
  • Adnaloy · 7 months ago
I agree with everyone here that support Miss California, especially with Sam Ausa. I applaud her for being truthful. I too agree that marriage should be the normal way, between a man and a woman. I hold on to my principals. Free speech is for everyone, so everyone can speak their minds, especially in a respectful way and does not has to be criticize for that.
  • India Hynes · 7 months ago
He should be sued for Discrimination and Intolerance. Where is the ACLU? She is becoming the minority. I applaud her truth. He should definitely be FIRED and Blackballed. Free speech, nonsense. Dumb answer? Dumb Question. Why the hell would they ask a question like that. The USA pageant committee are a bunch of idiots to ask a question, when the only answer that they wanted to hear, is Not what she replied. She is a smart cookie and strong will.

Interesting that some folks on the left are so interested in States Rights these days. Was a time when that was an excuse for localized racism. I wonder whether they will be as eager to defend the rights of those States who don't share their views on this particular subject. Somehow I doubt it. Lots of States have acted to outlaw same-sex marriage, and they are immediately tarred as homophobes by the same folks who now rush to defend Vermont's decision.

Beyond that, though, is the point of these panic attack questions. They know what kinds of questions will be coming at them, and most of these ladies have been trained from birth to dish up some pablum about "all the world's children", but the point is to learn whether they can think on their feet and articulate their opinion. Whether their views coincide with those of a particular "judge" should be beside the point.
  • Briguy · 7 months ago
Miss California should represent all Californians, she does not, she's a bubble head and should be dethroned
  • Kathy · 7 months ago
You're a bubble head. She represented the MAJORITY of Californians with her statement.

California VOTED to uphold the ideology of marriage being between a man and a woman. Miss California (1) has a right to her opinion, and (2) reflects the opinion of the majority of this state. Mr. Perez does NOT.

The question, which is founded in religion, should have never been asked, in the first place.

Mr. Perez is a horse's ass.
  • Melinda · 7 months ago
Um who are you all to judge on gay marriage? How does it affect you? And because you think it is wrong does not make it wrong-- are you God?

But yes, of course she has the right to freedom of speech and to say her opinion, but everyone knows whatever you say can be used against you. White nazi skinheads can talk about their opinion, but that doesn't make it right and it gives them the right to be judged based on their opinion.

So yes Miss CA, say what you'd like, but yes, especially when you're in a pageant, you can expect to be judged from whatever you say. Isn't that the point of the interview questions anyway?
  • Gene · 7 months ago
Trying to equate a person expressing their belief in the traditional view of marriage with Skinhead's preaching racism is absurd. Of course, the absurd believe that it's their time to set the agenda and the discourse on these issues. They are in for a rude awakening.
  • freespch · 7 months ago
I'm more than disappointed in Perez, for attaching an ugly, all-too-often-used B-word to this young woman. She sacrificed her possible title for her beliefs. And, whether they dovetail to my own or not, and under tremendous pressure, expressed them clearly. She did not pander to the rabid flambouyant judge, and he reacted with his typical hystrionics. That question had no place in a contest where one is to be judged on poise and beauty, not a political agenda. She was not running for public office, and it's likely she would have been very gracious to all people, regardless of her own personal stance on any given subject. Her understandably nervous presentation of her answer aside, I have to applaud her for being true to herself, and her views. Mr Hiltons' hissy fit and foul language, only serve to further alienate and divide, and confirm a negative image of LGBT's. Perhaps he could learn a little about poise and true (inner) beauty, instead of just emulating the worst characaturized traits of what he thinks it is to be female. Begs the question: Can you really be an impartial judge, when all you really want to be, is one of it's contestants? Cut the drama. You're hurting your own cause.
  • Derek · 7 months ago
I'm sorry, but perez is a fag and of course he was mad at her answer. As a judge of that pageant he should not have been allowed to ask that question. And by the way, her views represent a much larger portion of the people inthe US than his do. He tried to make a political statement by asking her that question, he believed the girl from liberal Cali would support his view, and when it didnt he lashed out at her like a little girl would.
  • Jamie · 7 months ago
Two words.... PEREZ HILTON. Come on people, it's like Miss USA being asked by Madalyn Murray O'Hair if she believed there was a God, and then when she said yes, she was boo'ed. Let's face it, the far left is in the spotlight right now, and we all know why. It's just a matter of time. It will all come crashing in soon enough. The average everyday American will soon grow weary of all this "political correctness," and then Mr/Ms??? Hilton will go into hiding along with all others. What an embarrasement to the Miss USA organization and our country as whole. In the words of the great Reverend Jeremiah Wright, "The chickens are coming home to roast, America"
  • Tnnrse · 7 months ago
WTG Miss California! So much more will come out of her honesty than a pageant title and crown. I will NEVER watch anything that has anything to do with "Perez Hilton" Miss USA? By the outpouring of support from most Americans, I think Miss California is a great representative for this country. I have gay friends, That is their choice and I don't judge them, that is God's job. However, Marriage is between a man and a woman. If this country wants to recognize a civil union that is one thing but marriage is a sacrament from God and I agree should be between a man and a woman. Marriage is taken to lightly in this country as evidenced by the 51% divorce rate.

May God Bless you Miss California!!

I don't think that beauty queens should be allowed reproduce.

    Or blacks.

Is that OK? Is that Ok with you "freedom of speech" people? You have been given a brain - use it.
  • mr. california · 7 months ago
no one is not allowing gays to reproduce, that is the most outrageous ridiculous statment i have heard in a long time. for one simple reason: two sperms can't make a baby. period. talk about using your brain, your analogy is a poor one at best and plain stupid at worst. So even if gays wanted to and the whole world encouraged it and no one against it, it would never happen. reproduction isn't even an issue in this debate!
  • Kate · 7 months ago
He never said Gays should not be allowed to reproduce. Read, Mr. California; he said he doesn't think beauty queens should be allowed to reproduce.
    Talk about using YOUR brain.
  • Randy · 7 months ago
    Hi Chris,
Your statement is distasteful but, this is America if this is what you want to say you should be allowed to say it.
I personally side with the contestant from California. She should be free to share her opinion without ramifications and criticism. An American's right to free speech should be our guide. P Hilton was an unfit, unprofessional and totally unqualified to be a judge.

When you ask some one their opinion you should expect to get their opinion and that doesnt mean you'll like what you hear. She had a very controvesial question and answered it well. I do agree with her, but thats besides the point. She was asked a question and stated her beliefs in a very honest and respectful manner. She was not hateful and did not seek to attack anyone. If only more people would have integrity like her. That sounds like the kind of person who should represent America. A person who can get a hard question and answer it gracefully, knowing that many people dissagree with her. I dont want a puppit to represent America. Thats what we have politics for.
  • mr. california · 7 months ago
the only dumb b- is perez. you ask a question and she gave you a straight answer. if she would have said she agrees with it, it would have been controversial also, dumba--. just goes to show you what a hypocrite the guy is when he demands tolerance from straight people but won't tolerate anyone who agrees with him. what the heck was he doing judging anyway? he's butt ugly.

First, this question should never have been asked. Since it was, congratulations to Ms. California for stating her true opinion. We all have opinions...including Perez Hilton. Perez Hilton is totally disqusting!!!!!! What a big-mouth B*TT H*LE!

Miss California answered his "trick" question truthfully and from her heart according to her faith and beliefs. She said what a vast majority of good people feel deeply in this country. Perez has no redeeming qualities and has no value as a "judge", blogger and anything else.
  • nval · 7 months ago
I agree that she has the right to free speech, but it is disappointing that people still seem to be living in the dark ages when it comes to gay rights. I have a hard time accepting that some beauty pageant contestant's opinion counts for anything anyway, but it is disappointing to think that hate and ignorance still exists in 2009. That's the problem with "reality television", people just talk without thinking. Perez needs to grow up, but so does the contestant.
  • Al-70508 · 7 months ago
In my opinion and a vast majority of Americans, Miss California IS grown up, more so than Perez for sure. It is not a matter of dark ages, enlightenment, hate or gay rights, but a matter of what is "right". True "marriage" always has been and should remain between a man and woman. This has been understood since the dawn of time and by all major religions. However, if two persons wish to join together in "civil union", that is fine if a state's laws allow.. But not "marriage"...such a union will always be morally wrong in God's eyes.

I really thought that Carrie would give the complete opposite answer. To ACTUALLY hear her say that marriage is between a man and woman made me cheer out loud. I was so PROUD of her boldness and honesty. Young women will see her as a stand out and a leader. Freedom of speech is what this country is about .... having an opinion that was given without any malice but with total honesty and graciousness was so impressive. IBUT THEN TO BE ATTACKED WITH SUCH MALICE. It is disgusting and he needs to apologize to everyone. IMiss California gives me hope, it will give many hope..we cannot be compliant when such injustice occurs. WHAT WAS HE DOING JUDGING???? He obviously is as arrogant as they come...yes, it is a queer world!

I APPLAUD MISS CALIFORNIA FOR HER BOLD AND TRUTHFUL ANSWER. The question should not have been asked if a truthful answer was not expected. This young lady spoke her belief without intending to offend anyone. It's obvious this Perez character wanted to hear only what he wanted to hear. Let's see, how does it go -"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH". Maybe it's time the Miss America Pageant had a panel of judges for the panel of judges.THIS COUNTRY IS IN BIG TROUBLE WHEN WE CANNOT STATE OUR BELIEFS.
  • Sarah · 7 months ago
Wow. I'm disgusted with all the homophobic rhetoric here. Beauty contestants get judged on their supposedly "good looks" along with their answers to questions that have serious ramifications in the current political climate of the United States. Every judge has the right to base his/her final vote on whether or not they like a candidate - that's why they are the judges and not you. Gay marriage is an extremely visible issue right now, and I think it was a provocative, if too black & white, question to pose to Miss California. She absolutely has the right to answer the way she wants - and so do all the dumb ones who get up there and answer poorly. They will be judged, and they know it. As for "normal" marriage - open your eyes. There is no "normal" person, we are all individuals, and we all have different preferences. It's about time we all have equal rights.
  • Randy · 7 months ago
The Rhetoric in this forum is more about applauding someone with the integrity to state what they believe even though the answer might not be popular.

The negativity toward the judging is based on the lack of professionalism shown by one bias judge P Hilton who proved he had no business being a judge! I see only a few putting down homosexualism as a way of life but, the great thing about America is free speech and people can do that in this country because their freedom of speech is protected by the constitution.
  • Joe · 7 months ago

It appears that the so called politically correct "Perez" is unable to accept differences of opinion. Over the years, I've learned that those who profess to be the most liberal are only liberally agreeable when you agree with their agenda. Dare to differ and take advantage of your Constitutional rights to freedom of speech and opinion, and those so called liberal-minded people are the most vicious you can ever meet. That's true dictatorship, Perez! Keep practicing and you'll be as good as Hitler! Two thumbs up to a beautiful woman who gave up the crown so that she would not compromise her faith and principals.

perez hilton was just talking about himself!!!
  • melissa · 7 months ago
I think that was a biased question to begin with.He worded the question to where if she voiced the fact that she didnt agree with it she was done.Just because Miss USA doesnt agree with same sex marriage shouldnt mean she isnt good enough to win.Its alright with me that they can legally marry but if some fairy boy tries to make me look bad because I dont agree with him then he is the one who looks stupid. She voiced her opinion and he bombed her on the net later! who looks like a dumb*ss now?! He just wanted a reason to be heard and used her truthful answer to justify crying about it.
  • Susie · 7 months ago
Well, I did vote for same sex marriage, I myself am a straight girl. My parents however voted against same sex marriage. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. This was her opinion. She did not insult the gay community, she did not say that she hates gays...all she said was that SHE believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Since when were people not allowed to have their own opinions? Now, if she had made a comment like "Well, i don't like gays..they are pathetic"...that would be one thing. She didn't insult, just stated her opinion. Carrie showed her class even afterwards, whereas Perez...well...he just sounds like trash. I hope he's not representing the gay community...because if i were gay...I'd be ashamed of him.
  • Bill Schoonover · 7 months ago
Perez thinks she should of stood up there and lied and said oh its ok if fags marry, blah blah blah.
It was a direct question to her and she answered the way she felt about it. I think Perez is just jealous cause he doesn't look as good as her in a dress. Perez you make me sick. As for dum b*&%*.. Go look in the mirror.

I was so excited how Miss California responded. It was literally so refreshing to hear her response. She has handled herself with maturity and class even after hearing Perez's comments on her. Way to go Miss California! Im so proud of you!
  • Kendra · 7 months ago
What saddens me most is Miss California was asked her opinion on a very controversial subject and she is being raked thru the coals for not giving what is deemed a popular answer. Her answer was HER opinion and popular or not she has as much right to voice that opinion as Perez has to voice his. The backlash and anger towards both Miss Cali & Perez for their opinion is very upsetting. Whatever your belief on this subject, we should all be grateful that we have the CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to express all our opinions.

Would Hilton have rather Ms. California lie to win a crown? Freedom of speech is the issue. I understand Perez is employed by Donald Trump. Mr. T should give him his famous line, ..."You're fired!", not for his beliefs but for his disrespect of someone elses beliefs.

Miss California does have the right to speak out, but in a contest like this where yo want to empress the judges you should be more diplomatic, And as far as that skank Paris Hilton is concerned, who carews anyway whay that little B , thinks. She certainely is in no position to judge anyone, Beverly
  • Ricky · 7 months ago
    Hi Sta,

Paris Hilton was not involved. It was some guy named Perez Hilton. Don't know his relationship to Paris Hilton. Maybe he is a cousin or something but, probably he is just someone who used to have a name like John Smith or something who changed his name to Hilton to capitalize off of the association with the Hilton name. That is just speculation. I do not think that I had ever heard of him before about 2 days ago so, he must not be real famous. Anyway, he does not seem to be qualified as a judge because he brings his personal biases into judging.
Actually, Miss California was quite diplomatic. She began her statement by saying no offence is intended to anyone!
  • Elisa · 7 months ago
WAY TO GO MISS CALIFORNIA!!! I'm not the only one who totally aplaud your courage!!!, freedom and tolerance has to be both ways not just the one is convenient for you.
About the opinion she must sue Hilton, why not? it's not about his opinion or his right to free speech, he took away her opportunity to be Miss USA, his behavior was discriminatory that's why she has the right to sue him.
  • M · 7 months ago
Wow, a lot of ignorant people here. Would you guys feel the same if the question was about interracial marriage and she had outed herself as a racist?
  • John · 7 months ago
    Hi M,
That is a wierd comparison, gay marriage is not a race related issue! Being gay has no relationship to being black, white, indian or asian, If the issue is about not offending, do not compare being gay to being black because many black people are offended by the comparison!
Anyway, the theme of discussion here is much more about free speech and the right to have an opinion. As Americans, we have the constitutional right to say what we believe without people restricting our free speech. This is what Miss California did. She stated what she believed. It was an unfair question because in previous pageants judges have stayed away from controversial subjects. Had all the judges stayed to normal questions could have answered she wanted world peace or to feed the hungry or something and won. As it was, she showed great courage and integrity stating her true beliefs.

Can I be a Miss California? WOuld I have to be transgender or just Gender confused?

You see the problem? The beauty pagent for WOMEN who are REAL Women would almost necissarily contain STRAIGHT Women - some of which would think that Marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman.

However, if marriage can be defined as anything else, what do we define it as? Can it be a union between man and man/ woman and woman?
Can it be union between man and animal
Can it be union between man and child
Can it be union between Business and Business?
Can it be union between any two entities (Such as partnerships amongst corporate firms)?
Can it be a union between two children?

Does it have to be a union at all?
Can it be an adoration that two entities have for each other?
Does it have to be a mutual adoration?
Can it just be one entity adoring another entity? (IF so, then Ashton Kutcher has a lot of wives!)

Let's say that it must be a mutual union
Does that union have to have any expectations?
Do the united have to live together or can they just be united in purpose and not location?
Or can they be united in location, but not in purpose?
Should we expect these united to be committed to staying united?

Does the unity have to be verified or just simply stated?
Does the unity have to be sanctified by any group or individuals?
If so, then who/what group is allowed to sanctify such a thing?

Should all marriages have priveledges that are exactly equal or should some have more priveledges?
With that in mind, besides tax codes, contracts, and debt, what are the benefits of marriage?

I would surmise that changing the definition of marriage and allowing it to be ordained by any group of people would be harmful to the benefits of marriage.

    1. If banks can't expect the united entities to stay united for any period of time, why would they secure that group a larger loan due to the nature of their unity? Their loan would only be doaled out as an individual... and it would hurt everyone

    2. Tax benefits would change too. Married people are expected to serve in creating the utopian environment for children. This costs a lot of money and therefore there are tax breaks for married individuals. However, if you were to be married and not expect to have children (99.9999% of the LGBT community) then why would we continue to allow such a credit?

    3. Why would anyone make a contract with a married entity if that entity would be liable of separating and thus highly probable to breaking thier contract?

I'm going to ask the question that no one has asked yet. What qualifies Perez Hilton to judge a competition involving women? He is a gossip blogger, who managed to work his way into the mainstream liberal media through controversy. Furthermore, I think that he took this opportunity on the world stage to further his own agenda and career at the expense of a genuinely good person. She stated what she believes in and stood by it. Perez hides behind the rights of free speach and then crucifies someone who should be protected by the same Constitutional Right. Every US Citizen is entitled to this right. Does the constitution not apply to Miss USA? If she will represent our country, shouldn't she abide by our constitution? First and foremost she should represent herself, California comes second and quite frankly does nogt represent the rest of our great country. If this is what she believes, whether I agree or not, she had the strength to stand up and put her line in the sand. She never said she would not accept nor accomodate anyone who disagrees with her,she simply stated that it was not for her. There is nothing wrong with that. This is truly unacceptable on every level and sets a tragic precedent for the ailing Miss USA Pageant.
  • Sheri · 7 months ago
I applaud Miss California for giving her honest opinion and not comprising herself by giving a "politically correct" answer. We need more people standing up for their beliefs instead of pandering to what the media wants to hear. She gets my vote for being a true American!
  • Kelly · 7 months ago
I think that Perez Hilton needs to be cited for hate speech like all the other radio announcers, celebrities, etc. that have been hit with hate speech violations due to their comments. Perez Hilton is tacky and rude. If he contends that he's "open minded" then why bash someone for being HONEST with their answer. Intolerance is what he's breeding! When will the heterosexual Christians be allowed to speak out their opinion and values without being bashed for it. She stated it was her personal beliefs, period.

I think Perez is just trying to start something with this whole issue and try to point fingers.... He trying to attack her but yet, he's doing it in a childish way.. How did he get chosen into being a judge? Grow up Perez!!! This is her beliefs and she didn't have to lie about it to make you happy.. What you said on your blog and on national TV is B.S.... Screw Perez, GO MISS CALIFORNIA!!!!
  • Morgan · 7 months ago
Absolutely agree with all of these posts. All opinions on this issue will vary, and that is part of what makes America so great. I was shocked at the look of disappointment on his face at her answer. Certainly he realized when he chose to ask this question that it was a very big issue with many different opinions, other wise it would not be as controversial as it is.
I thought California's response was true to herself and to her beliefs, while still maintaining compassion for those who believe otherwise. She did not say that her opinion was right and how it should be, but she made know that it was her OPINION and that she was raised to believe that way. Shame on Perez Hilton, he is giving the LGBT community a bad image. If they respect our opinions, we will in turn respect theirs.

I've got a question no one seems to be asking...

Why is a gay man a judge in a beauty pagent where he's judging the beauty of women? He's gay, so he already has no fucking clue what beauty in a woman is in the first place...he's gay?

Why on Earth do we care what a homosexual man has to say about a beautiful woman like Ms. Prejean? He already shows a complete lack of judgement by preferring the harry ass of another man over what can only be described as an incredibly beautiful woman.

Perez Hilton is a Jerk and the Miss America Pageant has lost its authenticity.

Miss California lost because of her answer to the question about gay marriage.

The judge, regardless of his or her personal beliefs and lifestyle is there to be impartial and judge fairly . . . that is the sign of a great judge, to give someone high marks even though you do not necessarily agree with his/her position.

You could clearly see on Perez's face that he was personally insulted, because he is gay. To let his personal feelings be the determining factor for a prestigious event is deplorable.

. . . It is not how she answered the question her in trouble, but it is clearly what she said when she answered. You could see Perez Hilton just shake his head in personal disappointment.

This is not what and who we need judging a Miss America Pageant.

    SnellvilleGA Citizen

Donald Trump, you owe us better than this and you should be speaking out more than anyone.

Controversial Answer? What's controversial is having a gay man be a judge at a women's beauty pagent. Who the hell is Perez Hilton anyway? The organizers of the Miss USA pagent must really be desperate. A lot of people would have turned them down, that they would have to ask a non celebrity/person to be a judge.Plus couldn't they ask or get a lesbian judge for a women's pagent?

  • Brandy · 7 months ago
I think the sickest part of this whole situation is that Americans put so much time and energy into something as shallow and superficial as a beauty pageant................then of all things expect intellegent answers from these idiots who have bigger hair then brains and vaseline their teeth. What the hell did Perez expect some open minded educated response, please.
  • Dylan · 7 months ago
Wow, I am thoroughly impressed with Miss California right now. While Perez Hilton is throwing bad names at her, she has not said one bad thing about him except that she dissagrees with his lifestyle. And honestly, is that so bad? I bet she would've been hugging him and thanking him had she won the crown. His lifestyle probably wouldn't affect the way she would've treated him.

And has anyone checked out his website. Talk about a guy who can't take some of his own medicine. There is not one good thing on his website about anybody. I understand the freedom of speech, but come on, this guy is ridiculous. Should those celebrities bounce back and attack Perez? What would Perez do?

Miss California is the Miss USA in my book. An honest woman is exactly the kind of role model we should want our children to look up to as Miss USA. If we are being persecuted for honesty, well then there's no hope for any of us anymore.
  • bird · 7 months ago
I am very proud to call myself an American and always have been, but Miss California made me even prouder. God is her ultimate judge not the ones sitting at the pageant, she new that. More Christians should be as bold in professing their beliefs and maybe we could get some of our rights back that we have let slip away, such as The Ten Commandments in our federal buildings. Or allowing time in the morning for our lost children to pray at school. We shouldnt have to always give up our rights as Christians. Thank you Miss California for not being afraid to be honest at all cost to you. How refreshing. Maybe this is what America needed to get back on track with God. YOU are a winner to me and many, many more Americans. We have been quiet to long, it's time to rally.
  • Kira · 7 months ago
v01 -of course Perez has a right to free speech, but he asked her a loaded question, to which, as a judge, his was only willing to accept one politically loaded answer. He docked her score seriously, most likely costing her the crown. That is what is not fair- he penalized her free speech because it did not match his opinion. He can say whatever he wants (and usually does) but as a judge, it is his responsibility to judge the way her answer was conveyed and how coherent it was- not whether or not he agreed with the answer.
  • Meredith · 7 months ago
she answered how she felt and there's nothing wrong with that...Perez retaliated with how he felt...again nothing wrong with that. the only thing that is wrong in this equation is that there are still people out here...today in 2009 that are discriminating against people who just have different beliefs or preferences than maybe you do. EVERY American should have the same opportunties no matter what the sexual preference is, race, age, and gender....get with it people.

I'm getting sick of people(on this site and Miss California herself) using the phrase "that's how I was raised" as justification for this and other issues. Yeah, alot of people in this country have been "raised" to hate black people. Does that make it OK? How about thinking for yourself based on your intelligence and the current world in which you live? The problem is people who use that phrase don't have any real reason to back up their argument so they use it as some kind of all-encompassing justification that everyone else is just supposed to accept as reasonable. No thanks.
  • Antoinette · 7 months ago
I think Perez Hilton is the 'Dumb B****'. They should not have chosen him to be one of the judges as he does not belong there. Miss California just answered the question honestly and her opinion should be respected. The contestant should be judged on how well they articulated their answers and not based on whether they agree with the judge's point of view. If Perez does not want an honest answer he should not have asked that question. When he said "that is not the kind of woman I want to be Miss USA", well what does he want? A dumb, liar and a B**** like him? No way!
  • Mikki · 7 months ago
I am not a big fan of Perez for this exact reason. As a media representative, he forgot the golden rule...FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!! And the human rule our parents instilled in us, and that is everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I couple of my friends discussed this event, and a couple of my friends who are gay/lesbians did not agree with Perez. We agree the young lady had her opinion, and she vocaled it very well, not like some who just said it cause others said it. WE DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HER OPINION!!

Perez: We are all humans who live our own lives, with our own opions remember that before you open your mouth.

I am beyond pleased that so many people seem to recognize that HER opinion is HERS, and she has a right to it. There is no wrong answer to a question like that, because it IS an opinion! All in all, I am sad to learn he is a judge for miss. USA, considering that he is known for being an outspoken diva. I do not ignore his right to an opinion just as Miss. Cali has, but in MY opinion, anyone who cant respect someones right to have a differing opinion than their own doesn't in return deserve any respect for theirs. Its sad that people act the way he does.

I don't think anyone should have the right to tell anyone else with whom they should spend their life.

That having been said, he asked the question, she gave her honest answer. Then he went and threw a tantrum about it, which means one of two things.

    1) He thought she'd answer in favor of gay marriage, and assumed, or

    2) He didn't know how she'd answer, but knew he'd hate one of the two responses, and asked anyway.

    Either way, what a tool.
  • Sertac · 7 months ago
I agree with Miss Carliforinia and her honest answer on gay marriage, everyone has the right to speak their own opinion, as long it does not hurt others feelings, but in this beuaty pagent, she is bravely and rightfully telling her view on it. Just because of that you cannot call people names or demean them, seriosly this Perez-guy needs to respect others opinion and dont be immature idiot.
So I say Carrie should sue him to the ground, and show a good example by doing this.
  • M3 · 7 months ago
Well, Perez pretty much exposed the gay agenda for everyone in the country. His reaction is nothing new, and I'm sure you all already know this. It's unfortunate this guy had to open his mouth because now it forces me to assume the gay community is out and ready to bash on anyone who is unwilling to bend over for their cause.

What Carrie has to endure for her believes is absurd. I've had my house pelted with a rock just because I had a Yes on 8 sign on my lawn -- exercising Freedom of Speech should not be answered with vandalism, violence, or any form of disrespect.

Katie, your view of a "creator" is interesting. Since you seem so interested in discussing spiritual things, allow me to pose this thought... If there is a creator, and he resembles the God of the Bible, which says he "created man in his image" to have similar qualities as God, it would stand to reason then that man, like his creator, has freewill. Meaning he can also rebel against his creator. God actually gave his creation the ability to turn on him and themselves. On that note, observe our current world. God didn't "make" people the way they are. He allowed them to become that, read Romans chapter 1 and 2, preferably from a New American Standard Bible. Homosexuality, adultery, murder, white lies, cheating on taxes, hatred, greed, lust, and selfishness all boil down to rebellion, and all of creation is guilty. Your opinion and mine is irrelevant. There is only one standard, and it is not "opinion".
  • NoGutsNoGlory · 7 months ago

Although I agree with him that gay marriage should be legal, why on earth would you ask this question? Only to hear a regurgitated version of what he himself believes? He is obviously extremely self-centered and couldn't have come up with a question that had nothing to do with homosexuality (his main agenda). Btw...didn't Mr. Hilton notice that Prop 8 passed in California and therefore eliminated legal same sex marriages? Although I voted against Prop 8, it seems like Ms. California is expressing what most people in California believe. I don't get it. If the majority agrees, why are you so mad at her??? I don't really know where you came from or what you do, but just go away.

So there is where Perez is wrong. His rant only shows his own lack of understanding about what makes this country great. It is HER opinion, we are a country of open opinion and preference. His views also are HIS OWN. Personally I respect both of their views because in the America I know we LIVE FREE. If she has to give up her crown then, then he should give up any type of public exposure or ability to voice his opinion as well.

It's only fair correct, oh thats right HIS opinion is the correct one. My mistake. Seriously Perez, get of your high horse, don't be hypocritical. Start by respecting her views then maybe we'll consider respecting yours.

I totally agree with a lot of people here are saying. It is absolutley ridiculous that she is being cirticized for her opinion. Freedom of Speech is the first amendment to the constitution and she has a right to voice her opinion. There are many people who disagree with gay marriage and that is ok becuase there are also many people who agree with it. perez hilton saying that he dosent want sombody like that to be Miss Amerca is totally uncalled for and just the same I dont wouldnt want anybody like perez to be anything in this country if he is going to criticize someones freedom of speech! He just said that becuase he was angry that she had a different opinion.

    Strange, funny, little, man?,
You are a poor excuse for a human being. Get a life.
She has a right to her opinion as much as you do. I guess I shouldn't expect anything more from you. Liberals want to exclude free speech when it runs contrary to their own. I think your actions speak volumes for your community.

WHY THE HELL IS A QUEER GETTING TO JUDGE MISS USA??? DON'T THEY HAVE DRAG PAGEANTS?
  • Jerms · 7 months ago
If her comments are offensive to don't listen to them. Why does everyone get so upset and feel they have the right to bash someone for their beliefs. The first ammendment goes both ways. Besides, she even prefaced her answer with, "I don't mean to offend anyone, but..."

This is just the pussification of America. Everyone has to be politically correct.

FUK you.. stupid Perez Hilton!!!! YOU SUK asss
  • Dan · 7 months ago
I think the point is, she may have lost because Perez, gave her a zero! While he is entitled to his opinion. His responsibility as a jude was to be fair and impartial. Obviously something he was incapable of. Carrie, as well as all contestants had a right to fair and impartial judges.

I do not think this Hilton guy is really gay. He sounded pretty grumpy to me.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived.
    Neither fornicators,nor idolaters,nor adulterers,nor homosexuals,nor sodomites,nor thieves,nor covetous,nor drunkards,nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-10)

If she is a dumb Bitch then you must be a Dumb Ass - to many dicks in a man's ass seems to render him incoherent -I don't think - no I really know for a fact she is heaping hot coals on your head - you are going to be in alot of torment from this point on until you learn how to forigve her like she did you. I know you are going to suffer in vain cause you only seek from your point of prespective and to hell with any other perspetive - dismiss me too like you dismissed her.
  • Not impressed · 7 months ago
Miss Cali does not impress me with her "Christian" talk. True Christians do not prance around in bathing suits, causing men to lust and bringing glory to themselves. Good for her, she has a moral conscious, but that does not mean she is in God's favor.

Stupid!!!!!!!! perez!!!!!!! so low in opinion! don't be a judge okay!

Reading all these comments it becomes clear that many people are confused or are attempting to confuse others. To help clarify, here is what happened.

    1) Prejean voiced her views (one I happen to disagree with).

    2) She has been criticized publicly for this.

    3) Others have criticized the critics sighting freedom of speech.

    4) The critics defend themselves also sighting their own freedom of speech.

In step 1, Prejean has the right to express her views (so long as they do not insight hate) reasonable or bigoted they may be.

In step 2, her critics also have the right and responsibility to express their views or dislike for Prejean's opinions. This is a the heart of healthy debate within our social structure and is the KEY function of freedom of speech. Because both sides express their opinions, people have the chance to gain understanding of what arguments are valid and which ones are merely untenable.

How then is step 2 a violation of freedom of speech as some seem to think it is? If you say something I disagree and I reply with a good retort that destabilizes your argument, I haven't violated your freedom of speech, I've just forced you to think harder maybe even reconsider your perspective... This is very important in a democracy because it gives us the chance to change our minds when we are shown that we might be mistaken.

Nobody has had their freedom of speech violated in this whole scenario, just a whole lot of shallow view have been expressed and a few more insightful ones. Fundamental to believing in freedom of speech is that you will defend the rights of expression specifically for those who's views you detest. One detriment to it is that fools, liars, sheep, pawns and idiots have equal rights to their expression as do the fair, intelligent and considerate. This is why most of what we hear is nonsense and why many here are so confused... I repeat, there were no freedom of speech violations here just a beauty queen with bigoted views that she has every right to express.

Why the hell are we even talking about freedom of speech then, it's a red herring. No more freedom of speech talk. Topic OVER, get back to talking about the original issue, gay marriage.

it's a beauty pagent. why would someone ask about someones sexual preference anyway. it's irrelevant. it's a BEAUTY pagent. it's not like miss usa could do anything about the slumping economy or anything else. judge them on their beauty not their brains cause if you listen to some of the answers some of them are lacking a little bit. this country has more problems that is need of dire attention that to worry about what some pagent contestant said. if everyone was as interested in our countries problems as they are in what someone said on a tv pagent then maybe our country would be alot better that it is now.

This guy is a loser. Whatever happened to good ol' traditional American values. Not to mention freedom of speech. Here's what really gets me. Gays fought for years trying to get rights and such. They have the right to talk about homosexuality. They have the right to prefer it. They also can do whatever they desire with another dude. So if the hottest woman on the planet says she believes in those traditional values of love being between a man and woman, leave her be. Perez is mad because she didn't say what he wanted to hear. I would have done the same. I'm not going to sit there and say I agree with homosexuality just because a fag asks me the question.

MSNBC and all the far lefties needs to leave this woman alone. She shares the same freedom of speech as Perez Hilton does. After all, he did get to go vent about it and call her a B!TCH on youtube. That's fine, but to me by the way he did it just shows low character on his behalf. He needs to put a sock in it if you ask me, and that goes for the media as welll.

Lets switch the situation. Say you have a straight judge that asks a gay man his thoughts between standard marriage and he answers with how he wants to marry a man. If that judge were to go online and post a blog like that, there would be a HUGE uproar about it. It would go to rediculous levels. And I guarantee there would be a lawsuit and the gay man would win. Nobody wants to offend the gays... nor African Americans. I highly doubt Carrie would win however. This is how our country is screwed up if you ask me. Why do gays need a hate crime law passed? Why do blacks openly use the N word if they hate being called it so much? Army vets don't get to be included on the hate crime bill, but yet there's as much of a hatred from some towards them as gays. White people that are straight seem to have the absolute last say in things now days... because what we say is offensive. Well, I am sick of it. It is in my opinion that they (GAYS, BLACKS) want those rights to use, but when it comes to a white male using them, they don't want to hear it. And that is not Democracy and it's unfair.

**By saying blacks and gays, I want to note that I do not think this way of all black people, gay people.**

It was white folks that founded this country and african americans helped build this place, but slavery has been over for a LONG time. There's no more racism. It's just them thinking they deserve something because their great great great grand daddy was a slave.

To sum things up, we give the minorities so much protection and say, that when someone disagrees with them they can't handle it. They are the one's that are racist. Perez Hilton obviously has a problem with anyone believing marriage should be between a man and a woman. He is nothing but a Hippocratic with a bad attitude. Enough said.

Oh and by the way.. why would they pick a homosexual to judge a beauty pageant? It don't make sense to me having a guy not attracted to woman standing there judging. To me he has no right. Go judge something gay.

  • Seperation of Church & State · 6 months ago
The Constitution CLEARLY states that there should be a SEPERATION BETWEEN CHURCH and STATE. People who are against gay marriage have admitted that their belief stem from their belief in the bible.

That being said Miss C still have the rights to say how she feel.

    To ANN
the Bible also at one time say it was a sin to eat shell fish and that the "man of the house" has the right to beat his wife and sell his daughter into prostitution.
